Yeah tbf they’re less risky than trying a new Chinese or other Asian place that carries a decent risk of being shit. Kebab is almost always good kebab, unlike all other takeaway

That's the problem with things like Chinese etc - the immense variability.

My mum lives in Exeter. It once had by far the best Chinese takeaway I've ever tasted. After a few years I believe the chef retired and it immediately nosedived in quality.

McDonald's/BK/KFC etc might be boring but you know exactly what it will taste like whether you're in Land's End or John O'Groats.

If you goto a proper kebab restaurant then they are really nice.

But a lot of kebab shops all over the u.k are shit with greasy low quality meat. Crap salad that isn't fresh, in a cheap pitta bread.

I don't see any Thai takeaway places, have never had one. I like Thai food and will go to a Thai restaurant for sure but on a takeaway ranking it's not even a thing for me.

Idk i feel like kebabs are a popular option when you’ve been out drinking and can hardly keep yourself upright.

Whereas, fully sober I’m sure people would choose an alternative.

Regardless, I’m surprised it’s on the same level as Thai food too.

I used to have a Chinese restaurant and a kebab next one to the other, and the Chinese was constantly with people, but the kebab was more crow at nights. Maybe in quantities Chinese food win this round

Kebab is more of a eat-on-your-way-home after a night out where i imagine this is poll is more for what would you order for a Friday evening meal at home.

Barring of course the many other reasons for people to have them incredibly infrequently to the point they basically don't get them, takeaways are expensive.

There are a lot of people who just can't afford them. And a lot of other people who'd rather not spend that money, who save and treat themselves in other ways.

Yeah I didn't get a single takeaway for the whole time I was at uni because I was skint. I'm sure it's the same for many on minimum wage or single parents or addicts or whatever. If you've got £50 quid left for the last half of the month, it would be madness to spend it on a takeaway.

My Mum was a single parent raising 2 girls on a council estate, she worked full time and wasn't entitled to any benefits. We didn't have a single takeaway outside of a chippy my entire childhood. First takeaway was a Chinese at 18 when I was earning my own money.

It's entirely feasible to me 13% never have a takeaway.
