Because our culture dates back to times when we did not have any paper to wipe (sh)it off.

We are more hygiene conscious and we are all blessed to be in a country with abundant natural resources that we don't have to worry about 2-3 mugs of water for cleanliness.

Consider 1 bn people using paper daily, what a wastage it would be, cutting down millions of trees for wiping our asses..we are not that fools.

Err I don't understand the concept of the westerners and most of the world of using TP alone and feeling absolutely OK with that.

Its shit. Forget your anus, as it forms in your large intestines it coats the colon , hence you need a colon cleanse/ detox/ colon. Therapist so do you think just usig a dry method will suffice ??

Now why Indians use water. Contrary to the general belief that we are just flies n mosquitoes, we actually maintain excellent personal hygiene. I'm not talking civic sense that's for another day n we score a big negative there. So , we like to have all sides covered. Wash urself with water. Dry urself with toilet paper and then get going. For that matter , OSHA should issue universal guidelines n make this mandatory .

I ll tell u another (not so) fun fact. A lot of 5 star hotels in India , because they cater to westerners ( n may be are ashamed of the fact that westerners cant wrap their head aroudn the use of water) have done away with the concept of a bidet or water faucet , which is the most inconvenient n stupid thing to do.

The concept of using TP in a public toilet I can still understand. Less messy etc etc. But come onnnnnnnn , the thought that u may just be walking about with poop stuck to some part of you is being unsettling.

One more , very important and rather frownded upon clause. For women especially during their menstruation , it beats me how they make do with just toilet paper. Frigging GROSS.

never ever understood how the same 5 star will have a 'hand shower' through out the middle east but not in India...personally avoid those 5 stars which dont have a proper washing facility..

Completely. Totally agree. So being classy and upmarket is not to clean urself properly? Thank you I'll pass , I'm better off being down market , uncouth and vernacular but clean.
