美国得以雄霸天下的奥秘，其实全都在南方公园第七季第四集“I'm a Little Bit Country（我有一丢丢喜欢乡村音乐）”里。这题目取自Donny & Marie Osmond六十年代一首乡村音乐歌名，不过乡村音乐和国家在英语里是同一个词，所以刚好意思在这里是双关。这集里的歌也都是用这歌的调儿。

这集讲的是，南方公园这小镇上刚好在同一时间同一地点举行了两伙支持和反对伊拉克战争（这集是03年拍的）的游行集会。双方因理念不合发生了争吵，随后变成了互殴。为了解决争议，双方都想知道美国的建国者会支持哪一方

**美国虽然千方百计抹黑攻击阻挠别国尊敬其开国元勋，却对于自己蓄奴又剥削的建国者们有着不容诋毁的蜜汁崇拜，所以好多事儿搬出来建国者怎么怎么着就解决了，类似于美利坚的祖制不能改。

主角小男孩卡特曼梦回美洲殖民地时代，去了费城各殖民地代表签署美国独立宣言的地方。结果发现，这些建国者正因为是不是要为了独立和英国开战而吵得不可开交。。。

约翰·迪金森：“我们不能用战争建立国家！ We cannot found a country based on war!”

约翰·亚当斯：“我们不能建立一个不敢一战的软弱国家！We cannot found a country that is afraid to fight!”

这时，本杰明·富兰克林出现了。他说，“我相信我们如果建立一个新国家，这个国家不能让别的国家觉得我们很暴力爱打仗。但是我们也不能显出软弱不想打仗。为了解决这个问题，为什么我们不让我们的国家同时显示出这两种特质呢？ I believe that if we are to form a new country, we cannot be a country that appears war-hungry and violent to the rest of the world. However, we also cannot be a country that appears weak and unwilling to fight to the rest of the world. So, what if we form a country that appears to want both?”。

托马斯·杰弗森：“是的，当然了。我们去打仗，同时举行反战游行。Yes. Yes of course. We go to war, and protest going to war at the same time.”

本杰明·富兰克林：“这就意味着作为一个国家，我们可以随便打仗，同时显出我们不想打仗。如果我们允许反战人士反战，我们的国家就永远不会被别人指责。And that means that as a nation, we could go to war with whomever we wished, but at the same time, act like we didn't want to. If we allow the people to protest what the government does, then the country will be forever blameless.”

约翰·亚当斯：“就像是既占有蛋糕又吃掉它。It's like having your cake, and eating it, too.” 

**You can't have your cake and eat it 是英国俗语，意思是人不能好处都占（明明把蛋糕都吃掉了还想着占有它），中文类似含义的熟语应该是做xx，立牌坊。

众人：“想想吧，整个国家建立在说一套做一套上面。这就是美国。Think of it: an entire nation founded on saying one thing and doing another. And we will call that country the United States of America.”

卡特曼梦醒回到广场，跟大家解释说，“这个国家是由一些很聪明的人设计的，他们意识到：真正强大的国家会去打仗，同时，假装它不想。This country was founded by some of the smartest thinkers the world has ever seen. And they knew one thing: that a truly great country can go to war, and at the same time, act like it doesn't want to.” 

“你们这些想要打仗的人，你们需要反战人士。因为他们让这个国家看起来像是由有理性、有爱心的人组成的。你们这些反战人士，也需要这些支持战争的人。因为如果我们的国家只有软蛋卵子，那就存在不到一秒钟。所以建国者们说我们全都要。这就是吃了蛋糕还是有。You people who are for the war, you need the protesters. Because they make the country look like it's made of sane, caring individuals. And you people who are anti-war, you need these flag-wavers, because, if our whole country was made up of nothing but soft pussy protesters, we'd get taken down in a second. That's why the founding fathers decided we should have both. It's called "having your cake and eating it too.”

群众A：”他是对的，这个国家的优势就是可以说一套做一套。He's right. The strength of this country is the ability to do one thing and say another.“

支持战争人士：”如果没有你们这些反战人士，全世界都会恨美国人——而不是只恨美国总统。Yeah, but... if it weren't for all you guys protesting, why everyone around the world would hate the American people instead of just the President.“

反战人士：”如果没有你们舒展肌肉，美国会被轻易的被恐怖分子或者中国干掉了。And if it weren't for you people flexing your arms, America could easily get taken over by terrorists or... or China.“

于是大家抱作一团开始唱歌。

支持战争人士：”我喜欢乡村音乐。Hey I'm a little bit country“

**乡村音乐，最广泛受众在美国农村。所以在这里指代美国传统价值观/共和党/红。

反战人士：”但我也喜欢摇滚。And I'm a little bit rock-n-roll-AH!“

**五十年代从美国城市中发展起来的摇滚，在指代美国自由民主价值观/民主党/蓝。

支持战争人士：”让我来当美国的肌肉。I'll be the muscle of America”

反战人士： “而我是它温柔的灵魂。And me, I'll be the caring soul.”

一起：“当你把我们放在一起，你就得到了一个只有统一目标的国家：为了蓬勃发展和繁荣——既乡村，又摇滚。And when you put us together you get a nation with one goal. To thrive and prosper, with a little country and rock and roll.”

支持战争人士：”我们可以是个相信战争的国家。We can be a nation that believes in war.“

反战人士： “但是始终告诉这个世界我们并不是。And still tells the world that we don’t.”

一起：”让我们把双标的旗帜插满世界，因为我们有一点乡村，又有一点摇滚。Let the flag for hypocrisy fly high from every pole. Cuz we're a little bit country, and we're a little bit rock-n-roll.“

最后一起：”打仗还是反战？谁在乎！For the war, against the war, WHO CARES??”

卡特曼的一句话总结了这集的中心思想：”建国者们只是想让你们知道，随便你们想反对什么都行，只要大家都认同国家牛X就行了。The Founding Fathers want you all to know that we can disagree all we want, as long as we agree that America kicks ass.“

初看这集时刚来美国不久。那时候的我十分诧异，美国人完全不比中国人聪明不比中国人勤劳不比中国人能干，凭什么能做到现在的位置。看了这集之后我恍然大悟：行动上美国说一套做一套好处都占，做事情的人可以抛开道义的枷锁（因为有人立牌坊）而总是争取对自己国家最有利的位置；思想上虽然貌似分歧，全民却都有着“我国优先，以我国利益为先，以维护我国利益为最优先”的精神统一。虽然很难搞清楚美国是因为这种精神统一才强大，还是因为强大而有了这种精神统一——但是，美奸？不存在的。无论在世界各处，每每有美国国歌响起，在场美国人必放下手中活吃的饭聊的天脱帽站直捂胸，其眼中闪现出的对本国热爱的火苗，深深让外国人羡慕嫉妒恨。
