改变对“龙”的误解需要时间和努力

新牛津词典对DRAGON的释义是 a mythical monster like a giant reptile. In european traditon the dragon is typically fire-breathing and tends to smbolize chaos or evil, whereas in the Far East it is usually a beneficent symbol of fertility, associated with water and the heavens.(一种像巨型爬行动物一样的神话怪物。在欧洲传统中，龙通常是喷火的，往往象征着混乱或邪恶，而在远东，它通常是富饶的象征，与水和天堂有关。)

DRAGON这个词在西方通常是贬义词，意思是“凶恶的”、"好战的“、“吓人的”（fierce, violent, combative, intimidating）, 例如，His wife is really a dragon. (他的妻子是个悍妇。)

西方的DRAGON肯定不能等同于我们的“龙”。

但是，随着舞龙舞狮在国外盛行，外国人对于中国龙的象征意义已经有了新的认识。

我认为，改变对“龙”的误解需要时间和努力。

1、多用Loong；

2、多解释。例如，可以说 Loong used to be mistakenly termed Dragon. The dragon is a smbol of chaos, violence and evil in the West. However,  in Chinese culture, Loong symbolizes honor, vitality, good fortunes and prosperity. （“龙”以前被误称为Dragon。Dragon在西方是混乱、暴力和邪恶的象征。但是，在中国文化中，龙象征着尊贵、活力、吉祥和兴旺发达。）
